Most women I have interacted with either through my personal connections or people I meet at my sessions have increasingly spoken about feeling unsuccessful.

Success means different things to different people. My interactions with women as well as men have made me realize that it all depends on one’s mentality or the beliefs (about success) they have formed by listening to someone else.

Success to some people may mean –

  • A successful job or business
  • Getting married, havings kids
  • Having a partner
  • Being in love
  • Getting a promotion
  • Being popular, famous

The thing about success is that it can appear to be elusive to some. Success is not one state but includes many situations you need to face in life.

If you feel the more you think and plan for success, the further it gets, then do continue reading this blog. I’ll be sharing all the lies you keep telling yourself.

Sometimes, the only thing between success and you…is you.

The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.

Lies We Tell Ourselves, and Believe It to be True

  1. This is not the right moment

How long have you been waiting to accomplish your dream? How anxious are you feeling to move towards your goal? When do you think will be the ‘right time’? The current situation has shown us the power of now.

Most women believe they are too caught up with their daily routines. They feel the need to push their goals ahead to a ‘better time’. Well, ladies, the right time is now. Move towards your goals with confidence and don’t worry about the journey.

  1. I am not ready for it

If you think you are not ready for it yet, you never will be.

Ask yourself deep within –

Are you honestly not ready? If so, what are the things you have to focus on?

Are you ready but low on confidence to make the right moves?

A lot of us are never ready. Many may procrastinate the need to move towards entrepreneurship, or even marry a person of their choice.

Ladies- find out the root cause and you’ll find greater clarity. This works toward better decision-making skills.

  1. I need to be perfect

You may not find the perfect situation to apply for the perfect job or launch a new idea. Your idea itself may be imperfect. You may want the perfect road towards a new job. You may want a perfect setup for your startup idea.

The idea of perfectionism may make you feel stuck. This is another way you are fooling yourself to delay your path towards success. You must make use of the current situation to create great results while being aware that sometimes, things may not always go your way. And, that’s ok. It’s a part of the success story!

  1. I am not extraordinary

I’ve noticed women postponing their plans only because they feel they don’t have the right talents to succeed. If you think intelligence is the only way to succeed, do note! The most successful people have a combination of skills. You need to inculcate nature to build connections, have great communication skills, display leadership skills, good Emotional Intelligence levels, and a whole lot more.

None of these are cultivated in a day. You can move ahead with the current skill sets and add new ones that bring value to your goal.

  1. I don’t have guidance

Do not carry the weight of the world on your shoulders

Yes! A lot of women feel they cannot begin without the right guidance. You may not always have a mentor holding your hand throughout the journey. What you need to do here is look for support in your existing circle. You also need to use the power of the Internet which is such a useful tool to learn and grow.

You need to display faith in your goals to move ahead with the resources you have at the moment.

  1. I cannot change myself

Women! I know it is difficult to bring changes in the personality but these things are within your control. Your goal may require you to add new skills or to change your personality a bit in order to move ahead towards success. The truth is – you can change yourself and you may need to make those changes to adapt to the situation.

Successful CEOS haven’t always been extroverts. Yet, some may display social skills as required for a period of time. This means you adapt yourself to turn the situation in your favor.

  1. I don’t know if I can make it work

A lot of people have struggled in their initial years. There are years of good and bad decisions behind every successful company.

When you find yourself doubting the decision to make it work, remember to focus on the present journey. Take a single step at a time. Give yourself a pat on the back for every step taken. Every success story has a long journey behind it. Do not bring yourself down because you are unsure of the future. Build a plan, focus on what you can do right now. Move slowly towards your dream.

  1. I’m too busy

You can keep playing the avoidance card or learn to manage your time well. Successful people are all about time management and organization skills. Plan, prioritize, and then move towards implementation.

Find out what is keeping you busy. You can delegate some tasks to others, be aware of your responsibilities, and know what’s most important while ensuring your day has a balance between work, home duties, and self-care.

  1. I’m afraid

I think we all at some point have been afraid of many things. We are afraid to ask for the promotion we deserve. Or, to follow a dream we have been nurturing in ourselves. This is a statement we often say in order to procrastinate the steps towards what we aim for. Without belief in self, it will be difficult to move ahead. Which is why, you will find yourself stuck in the same place for years.

You can definitely move away from this fear by displaying greater self-belief.

  1. I’m not good enough

Is this what you’ve been telling yourself all the time?

You may not feel good enough because of the stories you’ve been listening to around you. You may have believed these stories to be true.

If you still believe you are not good enough, what’s stopping you from improving yourself? What are the things you feel are not good enough about you?

If you think deeply, chances are, these fears are in your mind due to some past experiences or present situations that do not add value to your life.

Increasing belief in self is the first step you need to take while being aware of the numerous qualities you have to take the steps towards success.

You may continue to choose to believe your own lies or choose to embrace the truth.

The truth in this case is that you have the potential but need the self-belief to move towards success.
